137 – The Love I Loved Once

The love I loved once

Was a falling star for a fleeting moment
Just one scene in an entire show that
That woefully continues to play on
Even after the moment love is gone

The love I loved once

Had a way of being the only thing
In an inter-tangled mess of string
It should never go back to being
Something to hold on to and believe in

The love I loved once

Only said goodbye once it was finished
When there was no more love to give
It knew to find somewhere else to live
Despite every pain and tear at the shift

The love I loved once

Smiles back kindly every once in a while
It’s living now in art and friendly hearts
And there isn’t much chance to be missed
The relief is just in knowing it even exists
