65 – A New Shirt

I’m breaking in a brand new top
Introducing it to the wardrobe
It shakes hands with jackets and ties
With the bedroom where eyes
Look but don’t properly see
Suddenly uninterested in TV
Not unnoticed that it looks good
Great even, but would look
Better on the hardwood floor
Warm-skinned, wanting more
An over-active imagination
A creation of temptation
When the shirt speaks, it says
“Show me all the terrible ways
In which you would peel me off”
To find underneath what’s soft
A hanger is the shirt’s new home
In a closet where it’s never alone
When you look as good as you feel
The shirt’s an appetiser to the meal
